Women don many hats and play different roles in our lives. This can be exhausting & taking a toll on their health. Juggling between home and office has never been easy. Hence, it is important for women to care for themselves and keep their health in check. Listed below are few things to keep in mind:
Exercise as often as you can
Studies link exercise- a mix of cardio, resistance and weight bearing exercise to reducing the chances of osteoporosis, heart disease, cancer & diabetes. Exercise is also good for your mood and of course, it helps you build a better body.
Calcium is important but do not over do it
We have all heard that calcium is extremely important for women especially after 30s but do not overdo it. Consult your doctor on the dosage. Too much calcium can increase the risk of kidney stones and heart disease.
Reduce your risk of cancer
Know your family history of cancer. Doctors can screen people with a family history of ovarian cancer, breast cancer & chronic disease to do risk assessment. This will help you take preventive measures early on.
Do not self-diagnose
It is good to reach out to Google for basic information but it is a big no to try and self-diagnose a medical condition. If you are experiencing any kind of discomfort do visit a doctor immediately rather than self-diagnosing and self-medicating. You could be doing more harm than good.
Take care of your skin
Keep your body hydrated, exercise often and stay happy. All of this has direct effect on your skin. Also, do not sleep with make-up on, even if you are dead tired, take 5 minutes to remove make-up and let your skin breathe.
Take care of your reproductive health
Be informed of infections and injuries. Get educated in birth control and its side effects. Visit your gynaecologist regularly and discuss your doubts and apprehensions openly with your doctor.
Keep heart diseases and psychological problems at bay by sleeping more. Put your alarm for the time that you will actually get up. Try wrapping up work early at night and fix a regular time to go to bed.
Spend some with yourself, every-day. Do things that make you happy and do not worry yourself sick about anything. Stay healthy and happy for a longer life!
